STATESBORO, Ga. (AP) _ Chaz Williams accounted for four touchdowns and 203 of Georgia Southern's 616 yards in a 63-to-seven romp over South Dakota State today. It's the eighth victory in a row for the Eagles.
Williams ran for 102 yards on 14 carries, scoring touchdowns on runs of seven, six and one yards. He completed four of six passes for 101 yards, including a one-yard touchdown pass to PJ Cantrell midway through the first quarter.
Williams played only one play in the third quarter before calling it a day. The Eagles (8-1) built a 42-7 halftime lead over the Jackrabbits (4-4), whose only score came on Brad Nelson's 11-yard scoring pass to Brian Janecek 9:49 before halftime.
Freshman receiver Jayson Foster figured in two of the more exciting plays for the Eagles. He caught a 64-yard pass from Williams to set up GSU's first touchdown and in the second quarter he cannected with wide receiver T-J Anderson on a 54-yard T-D pass. Foster also scored on a five-yard run.
Tim Gehrsits added two touchdowns on runs of 11 and eight yards and Kevin Davis got the other Eagle score on a five-yard run. Jermaine Austin led the Eagles' ground game with 115 yards on 16 carries.
