Thomasville-- In high school football, Dr. Tim Darden of Orthopaedic Associates/The Spine and Brain Center presenting this week's player of the week award to Phillip Prather of Thomas County Central running back Phillip Prather.
Last week, Prather ran for 303 yards and scored four touchdowns in the Yellow Jackets 42-37 win over Lee County. Prather's performance pushes him over 1,100 yards rushing as the senior hopes to reach the two thousand yard plateau this season just like one of his heroes, former Thomas County Central and current Buffalo Bill running back Joe Burns.
"I was going to Cross Creek (Elementary) and I first saw Joe Burns when he signed my autograph because the football players used to come over there and sign autographs and he told me to come out there and watch him play and I went out there to watch him play and I have been hooked ever since then."
Thomas County Central closes out the regular season at Ware County. The Yellow Jackets need a win over the Gators and an Americus-Sumter win over Bainbridge for Thomas County Central to claim the 1-AAAA.
