Albany - Albany firefighters are washing cars to raise money for the American Red Cross.

From 9:00AM until 3:00PM Saturday, the fire department will hold two car washes. One will be at the Advanced Auto Parts on South Slappey; the other at auto parts store on East Oglethorpe. All proceeds will go to the local Red Cross.

"We can't go door to door to help people," said Battalion Chief David Eddins. "So if we can help a fine organization like the Red Cross, they're able to help more people than we could reach at any one time."

You can also receive a free car wash by donating blood at the Red Cross Donation Center on Dawson Road this week.
