Albany -- A South Georgia state legislator is given an award for his help to law enforcement.

On the Dougherty County courthouse steps, Representative Ed Rynders was presented the Georgia Sheriff's Association Leadership Award. The association represents 159 Sheriff's in Georgia.

Oliver Hunter of the Georgia Sheriff's Association said "He has assisted in numerous legislative efforts that we think has advanced the cause of law enforcement, and indeed all of public safety."

Rynders said "I proudly accept this award from a prestigious organization, that again works for the safety of all our communities and all of our families."

Rynders is being challenged by Democrat Earleen Sizemore of Worth County for House seat 152.
