Cairo - State Representative Wallace Sholar of Cairo says he found one of his campaign signs cut apart Saturday morning. He believes his competition is destroying the signs. Sholar says it's, "Very discouraging at times, but we just have to keep going and take the high road and continue to campaign."

Sholar is being challenged by Republican Gene Maddox. Maddox says no one affiliated with his campaign damaged the signs and if they had, he would pay to replace them.

The house 172 seat represents two-thirds of Grady and all of Decatur County.
