Americus walkers hit the street

October 25, 2004

Sumter County-- Pink was the color of choice in Americus, as hundreds hit the streets to raise awareness for breast cancer.

But, before the walk started, participants warmed up their muscles for the 1.5 mile walk.

More than 400 people took part in the Sumter Regional Hospital Breast Cancer Awareness Walk. It was the first time the hospital sponsored the walk and due to the phenomenal success they plan to make it an annual event.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The hospital is also offering reduced priced mammograms for women.
