Columbia, SC.--The Albany State Rams scored on offense, defense and special teams in the first half alone to jump out to a big lead on Benedict College before cruising to a 47-7 victory. Uyl Joyner started the scoring off in the first half with a 17 yard touchdown pass to Antonio Ivey to put the Rams up 6-0.
Albany State tacked on another score after Walter Curry blocked a field goal attempt and Jermaine Collins scooped up the ball and carried it 74 yards for the touchdown to make it a 13-0 ASU lead. Linebacker Luther Newton's 30 yard interception return then made it 19-0 Albany State in the first half.
The win improves ASU to 8 and 0 overall and 6 and 0 in the SIAC. They have now won 16 straight games dating back to last year, the longest current win streak in Division II. The Golden Rams will travel to Atlanta next Saturday to face Morehouse.
