Albany - Dougherty County coroner candidate Emma Quimbley is accusing her opponent's wife of lying to get her advertisement sales records. But, Jason Thornhill says Quimbley was hiding her political expenses.
Tuesday, Democratic candidate Quimbley said the wife of republican candidate Thornhill called Lamar Advertising and posed as a member of the Quimbley campaign. Quimbley says Marty Thornhill requested Quimbley's sales contracts for six billboards and other signs.
"I was angry and I was really disappointed in Mr. Thornhill and his campaign,"s aid Quimbley. "Jason and I have talked about integrity and honesty, and certainly he hasn't displayed that at all."
But, Thornhill says his wife never misrepresented herself and called to get the records because Quimbley hadn't listed the advertising cost on her campaign contribution disclosure reports required by the state. He says he plans to file an ethic complaints to the state elections board.
"The way that you spend your money and the way that people give you money for your campaign needs to be disclosed. That's what these forms are for - to keep everybody legal and fair," said Thornhill.
This week, Quimbley amended her September campaign contribution disclosure reports to included the advertising, but Thornhill questions if her late amendment is legal.
