Valdosta - Flu vaccinations will be available to people in the South Health District next week.

The 10 county district has received about 3,000 vaccinations. Those will be distributed to local nursing homes this week and what is left over will be given to health departments.

People in the high risk categories, including the elderly, young children, and people working in direct health care, can get their vaccinations beginning Monday morning.

"We're going to be strictly adhering to the CDC guidelines so if people are not at risk, we're going to continue to ask them to forego having their flue vaccination this year," said Jennifer Steedley, Public Information Officer.

Each vaccination costs $20.00.

The South Health District originally ordered 7500 doses of the vaccinations from Chiron, the company that recently had its manufacturing license pulled.
