Drive through flu shot clinic cancelled

October 18, 2004

Valdosta - South Georgia Medical Center's annual drive-through flu shot clinic is canceled due to the vaccine shortage.

Every year, people in Valdosta can simply drive through Morningside Baptist Church's parking lot to get their flu shot.

But this year, SGMC only got in about a third of their normal supply. Those vaccines will go to people working in direct health care, senior citizens, and cancer patients.

"Unfortunately, it doesn't look like we're going to be able to reschedule the clinic because if we do get the shipment in, flue season will be over by that time," said Valerie Swinson.

More than 1,000 people were vaccinated in the drive-through flu shot clinic last year.
