STATESBORO, Ga. (AP) _ Chaz Williams passed for three touchdowns and ran for two others to lead Georgia Southern to a 54-7 rout of Appalachian State today in a matchup of two ranked Division One-Double-A powers.
Williams threw his three scoring passes in the first 20 minutes to give the second-ranked Eagles a 24-0 lead. His scoring runs came on a 1-yard keeper with 12 seconds left in the first half and a 4-yard run with 11:57 left in the third, giving the Eagles a 37-0 lead.
Number 15 Appalachian got its only touchdown with 3:16 left in the game when backup quarterback completed a 2-yard touchdown pass to Drew Devine.
