Lady Panthers go for three-peat

October 14, 2004

Chula - The Tiftarea Lady Panthers will be gunning for their third straight GISA state softball title this weekend in Dublin.

The Lady Panthers making a third straight final four appearance despite losing three seniors from last year's team which posted a 50-2 record and won two state AA titles.

The rebuilding season got off to a tough start with three straigh losses.

But thanks to senior leadership and key contributions from four freshmen, Tiftarea has won 21 of their last 27 games and need just three more wins to claim that third state title.

Senior first baseman Glenna Ruth Parkman said "It has been a long road but we are hitting our peak right now and I think it is going to be a good weekend for us."

Senior outfielder Macie Hood said "I feel like we are just as good as we have been in the past. If we play right, we are just as good."

Tiftarea will play LaGrange in their first game in the double-elimination four team championship tournament Saturday in Dublin.

The other bracket has Gatewood playing Pinewood Christian.
