Ocilla- Susan Kesegich spent nine years in an abusive household before she got the courage to speak out.

Tuesday she spoke to South Georgia child advocates about her story and give them tips on how to help others who are too afraid to seek help.

"There are so many other women that are out there that have been through it that can tell the story too but they just don't have the support behind them of a book, or something that helping them to get it going, but I think that probably one in every five victims that are out there would stand up and do the same thing if they were given the opportunity," says Kesegich.

Kesegich has written a an autobiography about her life and is working on a second book that tells the stories of other survivors of abuse.
