Welding sparks cause fire at Cooper Tire

October 10, 2004

Dougherty County - A small fire at the Cooper Tire and Rubber Plant Monday night forced some employees to evacuate. Around 5:45PM, sparks from a welding torch started a fire in an air duct at the plant.

Some employees evacuated the area. The plant's fire brigade put out the fire before Albany firefighters arrived.

No one was hurt. Business is now back to normal at the plant.
