October 8, 2004

Tifton- Tift County High School and Fitzgerald High School won the Governor's Cup Challenge.

The award recognizes schools in each region whose SAT average score has increased the most. Fitzgerald's scores jumped 61 points since last year, and Tift County had an average increase of 14 points.

"The students did a great job. They took it seriously and took the SAT very seriously and were successful and we're very proud of them for that," says Tift County High School Principal Mike Duck.

The schools also received a $1,000 monetary award, along with the trophy. They both plan to put the funds back into SAT prep programs.
