Albany-- The recent tropical storms packed an expensive punch.

Power outages and downed lines for all four tropical storms cost Water, Gas and Light a little more that $400,000. Uprooted trees and strong winds from Tropical Storms Charlie, Frances, Ivan and Jeanne were behind most of the power outages.

WG&L has applied for federal and state help, although reserves are covering the costs for now. "We have to be able to pay for it immediately and so that is one of the purposes for the reserves," said spokesperson Lorie Farkas. "But we are hoping FEMA and GEMA will reimburse us for the time and energy."

FEMA and GEMA is reviewing the reimbursement application now. It is unknown if they will pay for the damages.
