Albany - You'll be able to ice skate in downtown Albany this holiday season. Water, Gas, and Light is making some big changes to the holiday plans this year. Rather than putting up snowflake lights around, WG&L is centralizing all the Christmas lights downtown.
Beside the light displays, there will be an ice skating rink at Riverfront Park. "It will be absolutely free including the skates. "We're using a Teflon-like surface that many of the professional skaters use. The beauty of that is if you fall a lot, you won't be wet at the end of the night," said WG&L spokesperson Lorie Farkas.
The ice skating rink will open December 4th, the day of the annual Christmas parade. It will close December 31st.
