Quitman - A program to help nursing home patients becomes the latest victim of state budget cuts.

Lt. Governor Mark Taylor visited the Presbyterian Home in Quitman today and expressed concerns about the Medically Needy Program. Budget cuts led to the elimination of the 9 million dollar program yesterday.

Taylor is concerned about the people who benefited from this program and said caring for the elderly is a priority for him.

"Care for the elderly is necessary, and it's got to be a top priority in state government. That's what we are here today to bring attention too," said Lt. Governor Mark Taylor.

State Senator Tim Golden joined Taylor during his visit of the Presbyterian Home, and Taylor expressed his support for Golden's re-election.
