Pelham-- This week's high school football player of the week is from Mitchell County.
Pelham High's Kyle Cox accepting this week's award from Dr. Tim Darden of Orthopaedic Associates and the Spine and Brain Center.
Cox had 19 tackles in Pelham's overtime win over Atkinson County last week. And it was Kyle Cox who scored the two point conversion to give the Hornets that win.
Cox was so exhausted after the game he was given I.V. fluids in the locker room. When asked if there was a time during that game he thought he couldn't go anymore and wanted to come out, Cox said, "Well, I felt like that but we only are a single-A school and have we have no depth. We just didn't have any more people and it was like you gotta go."
Pelham goes back on the road tomorrow night for another big region showdown against Miller County.
