Decatur County - Last week, Staff Sergeant Stacey Goodwin was killed by mortar fire while serving in Afghanistan. Goodwin's brother and son remember the soldier they will forever miss.

"It's the casualties of war and he paid the ultimate price," says Daryl Goodwin, brother of fallen soldier Staff Sergeant Stacey Goodwin. He says, "He'll be very much missed. If we can all become more like him and his brothers that are serving over there, it would be a better country."

Stacey Goodwin's son, Matt says, "It's just strange. Him not being here. It's--overwhelming."

To Matt, his uncle says, "Follow your daddy's guidance. Become a image of the man that you saw and many will follow you." Matt says, "He was always really nice and I always wanted to be really nice. He was a great man. He will always be with us."

And to America, Daryl Goodwin says, "Stand together brothers and sisters. That's what he would say. Stand Fast."

Goodwin was an Albany native. He graduated from Dougherty High School. He was a Green Beret stationed at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina.
