Albany -- An Albany Doctor is arrested for illegally signing prescriptions. Dr. Gerald Dariah is accused of pre-signing blank prescriptions and leaving them for his staff to give to patients.

His practice, Compassion Pyscho-cultural Center on North Madison Street is closed. He's charged with 15 counts of prescription drug violations.

Albany Drug Unit Commander Major Bill Berry said Dr. Dariah had prescribed a number of dangerous drugs. "They are very popular abused drugs. The oxycodons, the oxycontins, the pain killings, the lora-tabs, things of that sort. And it calls our attention when these prescriptions are not filled out. The writing does not match."

Dr. Dariah has been licensed to practice medicine in Georgia since 1995.

His medical license has been suspended and if he's convicted, he could face prison time and sanctions on his ability to ever prescribe medications again.
