Valdosta - A South Georgia college pays tribute to prisoners of war and those missing in action.

Valdosta State University's R.O.T.C. unit held a 24 hour MIA/POW vigil. From 5:30 Thursday afternoon until 5:30 Friday, cadets were trapped in a bamboo cage to raise awareness on the issue. "We only spend an hour in the cage and that seems like an eternity to us and its hard to fathom spending a year in captivity, these people are often cut off from their families and the outside world," said Greg Atwell.

The mock prisoners were not allowed to communicate with anyone while in the cage.

National MIA/POW day was observed last Friday, but V.S.U. had to postpone its vigil because of Hurricane Ivan.
