Albany--Augusta's Laura Coble fired a two over par 74 Thursday at Doublegate Country Club to claim her second consecutive Georgia Women's Golf Association Championship by six strokes over Ellen Dempsey of St. Simons.
It's the third championship title for Coble, who claimed her first title in 1999. Dempsey, the first round leader, shot a four over 76 in her final round to finish the tourney fourteen over par.
After trailing Dempsey by three shots after Tuesday's first round, Coble finished strong with an even par score of 72 on Wednesday before Thursday's round of two over par.
The championship marked the 75th anniversary of the GWGA. The very first championship was held in Albany at Radium Golf Club. This was the third championship to be held at Doublegate Country Club.
