Cuthbert-- There's not much more you can say about the job Randolph-Clay running back Chris Clay has done this year other than he's been flat out awesome. In four games Clay has rushed for 759 yards, 330 of which came last week against Brookstone making the freshman was an easy choice for this week's Orthopaedic Associates and the Spine and Brain Center player of the week.
Chris Clay not only had over 300 yards rushing against the Cougars, but he also scored four touchdowns giving him 10 for the season. Perhaps more importantly though is the fact that Clay is helping the Red Devils win. Randolph-Clay's 49-13 victory over Brookstone improved them to 4 and 0 on the season and the Red Devils are ranked fourth in the latest single-A poll.
Clay says it's the guys up front that are making his job a lot easier this season. "It worked out good because the offensive linemen, they made the right blocks and I just hit the holes and made the cuts and everything worked out," Clay said.
"We didn't know coming from the middle school if he would be physically able to play with a lot of the guys that are seniors but he's definitely shown us that he's prepared to play," Randolph-Clay head coach Walter Knighton said.
Clay and the fourth ranked Randolph Clay Red Devils travel to Edison Friday night to take on the Calhoun County Cougars.
