Charities get big checks

September 23, 2004

Valdosta - Some South Georgia charities got a big bonus Thursday.

Valdosta's Kiwanis Club handed out the funds collected in their annual Walk for Charity Event. About $40,000 was distributed to 22 local charities. "One thing about the walk that we're very pleased with is all the money stays in Lowndes County, none of its is shipped off or goes anywhere else, it all stays right here," said Todd Tillman, Walk Organizer.

This is the 34th year the Kiwanis Club has sponsored the walk, and the most money they've ever raised.
