Albany-- A deal to bring Arena Football to Albany could be finalized by as soon as next week. Mike Storen, the man heading up the effort to bring the team to Albany, says negotiations with the owner of the Cape Fear Wildcats (Fayetteville, N.C.) of the Arena 2 Football league continue to move forward.
Storen telling WALB News 10 Sports Wednesday night that the deal is very close to being done and once he comes to an agreement with the ownership group of the Wildcats he can then seek approval from the league.
Storen indicated that that approval could come as soon as late next week. While he waits on the finalization of the deal, Storen is also working on concession and signage contracts with local businesses and the Albany Civic Center.
The Fayetteville Observer in Fayetteville North Carolina reporting in Wednesday's edition that although a deal to bring the Wildcats to Albany is still in the works, officials with the Crown Coliseum where the WildCats play are already investigating the possibility of bringing in a new franchise for next season.
