Valdosta - Two men are behind bars for holding a store up at gunpoint and trying to kill the clerk.

Around 4:45 Wednesday morning, 23-year-old Marcus Jackson and 22-year-old Lavar Bridges walked into the Flash Foods store on Gornto Road and demanded money.

After the clerk gave them the cash, police say one of the suspects forced her into the bathroom where he sexually assaulted and tried to kill her. "At one point, that same suspect put some kind of neck hold around the clerk and it looks like he tried to break or snap her neck," said Lt. Brian Childress.

No one else was in the store at the time of the robbery, but the suspects did point a gun at a witness outside. That witness was not injured.
