Thomasville - This month marks a half century of service for one South Georgia University. In September 1954, Thomas University, then Birdwood, held its first day of school.

Seven students took classes in English, math, biology and secretarial sciences. Today, more than 800 students are enrolled at the University with courses in 28 different programs.

The seven original students have been invited back to Thomas University for this year's Homecoming October 15th through 17th.
