Frankfort, KY--Antonio Atkins rushed for 145 yards and four touchdowns as the Albany State Golden Rams improved to 3-0 on the season with a resounding 42-7 victory over the Kentucky State Thorobreds Saturday.
The win snapped a two game losing streak to KSU for the Golden Rams, who are off to their best start since the 1997 season. Atkins, a true sophomore, scored the Rams first three touchdowns on runs of one yard, nine yards and eight yards before capping off the day with a 39 yard scamper in the fourth quarter. Albany State (3-0, 2-0) returns home next week to face Lane College at 7:00 p.m. at Albany Municipal Coliseum.
Arkadelphia, AK.--Senior quarterback Fabian Walker threw for 250 yards and one touchdown to lead the Valdosta State Blazers to their first victory of the season, a 40-19 pounding of Ouachita Baptist. The Blazers (1-1,1-0) jumped out to a 24-19 lead at the half and shut out the Tigers in the second half. VSU rolled up 488 yards of offense in the win and capped the scoring off with a 55 yard touchdown run by Adel's Vincent Brown. Valdosta State opens up their home schedule Saturday night at 7 p.m. against Harding.
