Valdosta enters state of emergency

Valdosta- Saturday, a state of emergency was declared for Lowndes County, and officials will be watching for price gouging.

Emergency Management officials say mobile home residents may need to evacuate if Ivan comes to South Georgia.

Emergency officials are also keeping a close eye on the water level of the Willacoochee and Little Rivers which are already high because of rain earlier this week.

Two shelters are already open in Valdosta including. The Red Cross shelter at the Grace Victory Church on North Forrest Street and Lake Park United Methodist Church on West Cotton.
