Valdosta - Two homes were destroyed in an apartment fire Thursday afternoon.

The fire started around noon at the Links on North Valdosta Road. The top two units in building B were completely destroyed.

No one was injured, but several animals were killed.

Margaret Renner lost everything inside her apartment, but luckily a firefighter rescued her cat. "I went to the back window, opened it, pushed the screen out, and jumped from my second floor," said Renner.

Investigators aren't sure what caused the fire, but they think it started in the patio area outside the top units.
