Leesburg-- In high school football, new Lee County head coach David Johnson says he has seen his Trojan football team get better with each week.
Last week, the Trojans certainly looked like an improved football team in giving their head coach his first win. One of the stars in the Lee County win was junior quarterback D'Vontrey Richardson.
Against Turner County, Richardson threw for five touchdowns and ran for another. That performance has earned D'Vontrey Richardson this week's Orthopaedic Associates and the Spine and Brain Center player of the week.
D'Vontrey shared that award with those who made it possible when Dr. Paul Michas presented him with his player of the week plaque.
"The offensive line gave me five seconds in the pocket," said Richardson. "Any quarterback have five seconds in the pocket should be able to find their receivers and the defense gave me every chance to get out there and do my best because they went out there and went three and out."
Lee County will try to make it two wins in a row when they play unbeaten Westover Friday night at Hugh Mills Stadium.
