Albany- It took 10 years, but the Albany City Commission managed to get rid of a riverside eyesore Wednesday.

Workers started pulling down an old building on Broad Avenue.

City commissioner Henry Mathis was happy to help. The building used to house a radiator business but has been empty for years.

"Of course we had some environmental issues that we had to deal with, but we were able to work through those and here we are today trying to get this building demolished," Mathis said.

The area will be turned into green space until the city decides exactly what to do with the area.
