Albany-- Twenty-seven-year-old Teresa Bentley surrendered at the jail Wednesday morning. She's accused of helping a man bond out of jail, knowing he had given a false name.

Investigators have an audio tape of his phone call from jail to Officer Bentley asking her to help him get out. Bentley was fired by the Police August 27th, and now she is charged with two felonies.

"Anyone who violates the law must be held responsible,"said Asst. D. A. Greg Edwards. "Even a police officer. "

Teresa Bentley was previously arrested in March for speeding away from Dougherty County Police on a traffic stop. She wasn't fired then, but suspended. Teresa Bentley is the sixth Albany Police Officer arrested in the last five months.

Chief Bobby Johnson is under an investigation of his own, into whether he violated hiring practices in hiring at least one of those arrested officers.
