Albany- Strong winds split a giant oak tree and pushed part of it onto power lines on Colquitt Avenue Sunday morning, knocking out power to an entire block.

The power lines were just flipping and flopping and then everything was out. WG&L crews restored power to the neighborhood.

A power line was knocked down, leaving hundreds of businesses and homes, in southwest and west Dougherty County, without power.

Traffic on Interstate 75 in Lowndes County is unusually light today. Around noon, there was very little traffic, especially for a holiday weekend. Traffic is expected to increase Monday night when evacuees start heading home. Just north in Tift County.

I-75 remains wide open, but Tifton hotels are still packed with evacuees. No vacancies at all today.
