Tifton-Nine metro-Atlanta based Highway Emergency Response Operators were called into Tifton Thursday night.

They will spend the next few days patrolling Interstate 75 from exit 99 south to the Florida line.

"What we're looking for are stranded motorists, accidents, anyone that might have a medical emergency and we'll dispatch the proper authorities to the area," says Clint Brooks of the Department of Transportation H.E.R.O. Unit.

Friday afternoon nine additional units were called in to help keep evacuees moving along the interstate.
