Phoebe prepares for Frances

September 2, 2004

Dougherty County-- Albany's largest hospital is bracing for Hurricane Frances.

Phoebe Putney's emergency room is normally packed during holiday weekends, like the upcoming Labor Day weekend.

With thousands of Floridians evacuating, the hospital is preparing for an influx of people who might need medical attention. V.P. of Operations John Fischer says, "A number of them have already begun to readjust their schedules and we are concerned about tornadoes and power outages and things such as that and they want to be prepared to come in if we need them."

Department heads and managers met first thing this morning to review the hospital's emergency plan.

Employees are on stand-by in case the worst happens.
