Worth County- Friends hammer a cross into the ground near the intersection of Poulan Shingler and Ephesus Church Roads, the spot where 18-year- old John Bridges died.
"We went to the school just a moment ago to get the cross made and we realized he wasn't there anymore," says Erin Adams.
The wooden stakes may mark the place where he died, but Bridges friends say his memory will live on their hearts.
What will they miss most about him? "The way he talked and the hair, the goofy hair," Adams says.
The group finds solace in remembering the fun times they had in class with the Worth County senior. As they deal with their pain, the teens say they will try to stay strong for Bridges family who has been struck by tragedy for the second time in less than 10 years. Bridges' older sister also died in a fatal wreck at the age of 16.
"It a lot of emotional support and it's good to have friends even though you're missing one. It's good to have everybody there with you."
Bridges' friend Kevin Braswell was also in the vehicle during the wreck. He was injured but has been released from the hospital.
The funeral is set for Wednesday at 4:00PM at Pinson Memorial United Methodist Church in Sylvester. Banks Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
