Albany- The Drawdy family believes their seven month old beagle Brollie was chasing one of their neighbor's chickens when he left their Beachview Drive yard.

A few minutes later they heard gunshots. They say the neighbor continued to shoot even after the dog began to run away.

"I just can't understand the beagle puppy is about seven months old, he weighs 20, 25 pounds why it would be necessary to shoot him, and not just hit him with the gun or run him off or something, rather than chasing him all the way around the house still shooting at him," says Benjamin Drawdy.

Albany police would not say whether the neighbor will be charged, but they did leave with his shotgun. The neighbor declined to comment on the incident.
