More legal woes for APD

August 27, 2004

Albany-- A warrant is issued for the arrest of yet another Albany police officer; one who's been arrested before.

Officer Teresa Bentley was given notice of termination Friday-- the same day a warrant was signed for her arrest.

Bentley, who's been an Albany Police Officer since November 2001, is accused of helping get her brother out of jail, knowing he had given police a false name.

We don't know the specific charges outlined in the warrant and the jail says Bentley has not yet been booked. She is expected to be by tonight. The 27-year-old Bentley is the same officer who was arrested in March after she sped off while Dougherty County police were trying to give her a speeding ticket.

She was suspended from APD for that arrest, but not fired.

Her arrest is the fourth arrest of an Albany police officer in the last three months.

A fifth officer was accused of a crime and fired, but not criminally charged.
