Tallahassee, Fl. - Hahira's Stephen Drew took another step towards returning for his senior season at Florida State.
The number one draft pick of the Arizona Diamonbacks enrolled for fall semester classes on Thursday.
Drew, who was in California earlier this week negotiating with the Diamonbacks, will go back into next year's draft if attends his first class scheduled for Tuesday.
That means there is still time for Arizona to continue to negotiate and avoid losing their first overall pick.
Stephen Drew, who had a 344 batting average with 17 homeruns for Florida State last season, was considered to be the top overall player available in the June draft.
Many teams passed on the younger brother of J.D. and Tim Drew, who both play for the Atlanta Braves, because because they knew that Drew's agent Scott Boras would command top dollar for his client.
Drew slipped to 15th in the first round and shortly after his selection the Diamondbacks ousted chief executive officer Jerry Colangelo and have replaced him with Jeffrey Moorad who has been instructed to lower the team's payroll.
J.D., Tim and Stephen Drew are the trio of brothers in major league history to all be selected in the first round of the draft and J.D. and Tim made history when they were both first round selections in the same year.
