Americus-- An Americus loan company is one of 22 being fined nearly a half-million dollars for overcharging its clients.
Covington Credit of Georgia is being fined by the Insurance Commissioner's Office after an investigation.
The company is in trouble for charging more than the law allows for industrial loans and demanding late fees when people weren't late with their payments, among other complaints.
Covington Credit has an Americus branch, as well as 21 other offices across the state.
