Albany - A review panel could decide as earlier as Thursday if the Albany police chief violated rules when hiring officers. The panel reviewed several cases where Chief Bobby Johnson hired applicants who didn't pass a required interview.

None of the panel members would talk on camera. But, the City Attorney says he plans to suggest big changes be made. He stopped short of saying the Chief should be fired.

The decision about the Chief's job and about changes to the hiring policy are expected by September 2nd.
