Tifton- Monday was the first day of classes, but the last time Abraham Baldwin College President Mike Vollmer will make his annual beginning of the year address.

Since he took office in 2001, ABAC has completed nearly $40 million in construction projects. Vollmer says that growth will continue.

"The pedestrian mall which we started about two years ago we received another million dollar grant from the Department of Transportation, so we're going to complete the pedestrian mall project throughout the campus. Then our three big historic buildings Tift, Herring and Lewis those three that were here in 1908 we're going to be getting $10 million in the next two years to completely renovate those buildings," says Vollmer.

ABAC will also break ground on a new $6.4 million Health Sciences building September 1st. Vollmer will move to Atlanta in October to head the Georgia Department of Technical and Adult Education.
