August 23, 2004

Dougherty County-- An Albany furniture store owner and his wife are robbed at gunpoint in their home.

Charlie Rouse, owner of United Furniture Outlet on Slappey, was robbed at his home on Lovers Lane Road around two yesterday afternoon. Rouse says the man knocked on his door, offered to cut his grass, then pulled a gun.

"He led them to the bedroom where he kept his money, and turned the money over to him at that time," said Dougherty Co. Police Lt. Dennis Dawson.

Neither Rouse nor his wife was hurt. The gunman got away with five thousand dollars.
