Albany -- An injured man staggers away from a wreck that sent two people to the hospital today. Albany police say alcohol was likely involved.

The wreck happened just after three Saturday this afternoon on West Oakridge, when an apparent drunk driver drove his truck into on-coming traffic.

Police say 69 year old John Liggins veered out of the turning lane and slamming his truck into a van. Police believe Liggins had been drinking.

The driver of the van, Timothy Kempton, says the wreck happened in a flash.

"I saw him. I went to hit my breaks and slow down a little bit but he was just traveling to fast," says Kempton.

The passenger from both vehicles were taken to the hospital. Liggins and Kempton were not seriously hurt. Police say DUI charges are pending against Liggins.
