Shaken baby trial starts

August 17, 2004

Americus-- The state began presenting their case Tuesday in a high-profile murder trial.

Twenty-three-year-old Jennifer Tanner is accused of killing eight-month-old Haley Bone in February. Tanner was baby-sitting the child, when the baby stopped breathing. GBI Crime Lab results show she died from being shaken.

Opening statements were given Tuesday morning, prosecutors are still interviewing their witnesses. The trial will continue Wednesday.
