Albany-- It looked like Christmas in August as CallTech employees arrived at Morningside School, bringing gift wrapped boxes. The boxes from CallTech were loaded with school supplies.
Bookbags, Notebooks, paper, folders, pencils and pens, crayons, markers, glue sticks, all the items the students need to get the most out of their classes. CallTech General Manager Glenna Williams said, "All of our employees are giving this gift. We feel that as parents we know what the need is. So we wanted to give back to those who have given to us."
Students were lined up and the school supplies were handed out. Morningside Elementary Principal Jose Roquemore said, "This is absolutely a blessing for the 620 students who attend Morningside, and the faculty and staff. We are truly appreciative."
Some kids were all smiles, some looked stunned, but all now have the school supplies they need. And the teachers say community gifts like these will inspire the students. "No doubt, they are going to burn up those pencils before they get them in the book bags."
The CallTech employees raised nearly $500 for the school supplies. CallTech also gave gift boxes to all the teachers and staff.
