Fall semester kicks off at VSU

August 16, 2004

Valdosta - It's back to school time for students at Valdosta State University.

Monday kicked off the first day of fall semester. A little over 10,000 students are registered for classes, and university officials expect that number to increase this week.

Enrollment is up slightly from last year, but the increase isn't as much as usual because the college raised its S.A.T. score requirements. "Every two or three years we'll analyze the S.A.T. score cutoff and we want to be sure students find themselves in the right institution to meet their needs," said Dr. Louis Levy.

V.S.U's S.A.T score requirement was 830 last year but has been raised to 850.

University officials say they've seen a big increase in students coming to V.S.U. from the metro Atlanta area.
