Hubbard William "Bill" Lancaster, 78, of Albany, died Thursday, August 12, 2004 at his residence. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 14, 2004, at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors, with the Rev. John Tarrer officiating. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.
A native of Albany, Mr. Lancaster had lived in Albany most of his life. He was a member of Byne Memorial Baptist Church, the American Legion Post 30, VFW, U.S. LST Association, AARP, a charter member of National WWII Memorial, former member of the Albany Lions Club, Elks Lodge # 713, Radium Country Club, Doublegate Country Club, National and Georgia Association of Board of Realtors, and a past president of the Albany Board of Realtors.
He was a retired Associate Broker and Vice President of Sales with Walden and Kirkland Realtors. He attended: GMC 2 years, Coyne Electrical School in Chicago, and Northwestern University Radio School. Mr. Lancaster served in the U.S. Navy where he served as a radioman on the LST 463 in the Pacific Theatre for 3 ½ years.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Cobb Lancaster of Albany; nieces: Paula Hewett Fore of Albany, Jeffie Hewett Casey of Ormond Beach, FL, and Grace Prescott Horr of Albany; a special friend and nurse Joan Banks of Albany; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
The family will receive friends at Kimbrell-Stern on Friday August 13, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
